A classic, comforting breakfast, this Creamy Oatmeal recipe is a beautiful way to start your day. You only need 5 minutes and the toppings and type of milk are totally customisable to suit everyone's tastes.

Ingredients

Oats
  • 75 g (¾ cup) quick oats
  • 375 ml ( cups) milk (see note 1)
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds (optional)
  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
Toppings
  • 1 tbsp milk (see note 1)
  • ½ banana, sliced
  • 3 strawberries, sliced
  • 1 tbsp nuts of choice, I used walnuts
  • 1 tbsp coconut flakes
  • 1 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • Combine the oats ingredients in a small saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring continually, for 2–3 minutes or until it reaches your desired consistency. The oats will continue to thicken as they cool.
  • Serve in a bowl topped with the additional milk, banana, strawberries, nuts, coconut flakes, maple syrup and cinnamon.
